Heavy Duty Accu-Slice - Band Saw Wood Slicing Accessory
The Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System consists of three components:
For a complete system all three (3) components will need to be ordered.
The system operates much like a wood sawmill in which the wood or board to be cut is attached to a carriage which slides on a rail through the band saw blade. This provides for clean and smooth cuts and at the same time provides for greater safety for the operator.
A set of two MagJig 150 clamps with all the mounting hardware is included with the Accu-Slice table. The purpose of the MagJig clamps is to further reduce vibration of the band saw to provide for even smoother cuts.
Safer Cutting of Veneers and thin Slices of Wood.
With conventional resawing, the wood is both pushed against the fence and also at ninety degrees through the blade. Any change in hand pressure or hand repositioning results in saw marks on the cut piece of wood. This does not occur with the Accu-Slice. In addition the operation is much safer with the Accu-Slice since the operator's fingers are far removed from the band saw blade.

(1) Index Table
The index table is 36” long and is made from 3/8” thick aluminum. This provides for an index table that is heavier, stronger and sturdier. In comparison the standard Accu-Slice system (model AS266) is 26” long and constructed from ¼” thick aluminum. The Index Table mounts to the band saw table via a miter bar and locks in place with two 1/4" x 20 tpi screws. Holes must be drilled and tapped into the band saw table to attach the miter bar on the Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System. The Index Table also includes two 150 pound capacity MagJig Clamps and the calibrated Indexing System which provide for greater stability and smoother cuts on the bandsaw. |
The Indexing System consists of a revolving index wheel with major graduations at five thousandths increments (0.005”) and minor graduations at 0.001” increments. Each full revolution of the indexing wheel advances the wood to be cut fifty thousandths of an inch (0.050”) which is the normal kerf size of many band saw blades, such as the Timber Wolf ½” blades used in our demos. The accuracy and repeatability of the index system is better than +-0.002”. Wood can be sliced down to 0.010” thick with the Accu-Slice as shown in the videos.

(2) Rails
Rails from 36" long up to 96" long are available for the Accu-Slice (36",48", 60” and 96”). They are easily and quickly installed on the indexing table via 3 mounting screws.
Either the 60" rail or the 72" rail are recommended for use with the Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System. If the 72" rail or additional extension rails are used, then the optional Rail Supports should be used.

(3) Accu-Sled II 30" Carriage.
The Accu-Sled II 30" carriage is normally recommended for use with the Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System. This is our latest carriage for the Accu-Slice system. Boards up to 48" long can be sliced with this carriage using a 48" long sacrificial fence. One of the applications that we have used the Accu-Sled II for in our shop is slicing the 32" long by 5" wide boards for making guitar backs and sides |
The Accu-Sled II Carriage is 30" long by 4" wide. The Accu-Sled II is a flat plate carriage with 5 roller bearings on its base that ride the Accu-Slice rail. The flat plate top contains 7 T-Slots and thirty ¼” x 20 tpi tapped holes for the attachment of clamps, screws, and custom mounting accessories. Optional brackets of various sizes are available that can be mounted to the plate for various applications or you can make your own brackets or adaptors for custom applications. This unit can be used to enable the user to perform other applications of cutting wood on the band saw using the capabilities of the Accu-Slice Index table and rail. On the bottom of the carriage assembly are attached 3 or 4 roller bearings. The roller bearings consist of an inner ball bearing with a polycarbonate plastic outer wheel. These roller bearings slide on the rail to provide for a smooth even cut of your wood pieces. One of the roller bearings is adjustable to enable you to adjust the tightness of the carriage travel on the rail due to operator preference or due to system wear.
Additional carriage assemblies for other applications are available including the Accu-Wedge carriage for cutting segments for segmented wood turning and the Accu-Slot for cutting Celtic Rings.

Optional Accessories
*Rail Supports – Two optional Rail supports are available when rail lengths exceed 60”. You will also need two stands to attach to these rail supports – these are available from Amazon. These are described in the second design video and the ordering information is listed in the description of this video.
* Extension Rails – When using a rail over 60” long to slice longer boards, the extension rail kit is required. You might also need and additional Accu-Sled II carriage – either 18” or 30” model if you are slicing boards over 50” long. This product is described on the Accu-Slice rail page on our web site.
*Additional L-Brackets for the Accu-Sled II carriage. We offer a 3”, 4” and 6” tall L-Backets for use depending on the width of the boards you will be cutting. Details are on the Accu-Sled II page on our web site.
* A set of two brushes attached to an aluminum plate can be attached to the ends of the Accu-Sled II carriage to minimize sawdust from contaminating the roller bearings on the carriage which results in less sawdust buildup on the roller bearings, less frequent cleaning of the roller bearings and smoother operation of the carriage sliding on the rail.

Band Saw System Requirements
* The band saw table must be cast iron so that the MagJig magnets will clamp the Accu-slice table to the band saw table.
* The Band Saw Table must be at least 14” wide and not exceed 34” wide
* The current Model of the Heavy Duty Accu-slice system requires a band saw table with a ¾” wide miter bar slot. An additional version for the Hammer band saw with a 15mm miter bar slot is currently being evaluated and may be available in the near future. Other sizes may be available.
* The distance between the front edge of the miter bar slot on the band saw and the band saw blade must not exceed 5”. The current model will not fit band saws such as the Rikon band saw on which this distance is 6”. A larger Heavy Duty Accu-Slice Index table may be available in the future which would fit this model of band saw
