Faceted Wood Desk Clocks
This is a collection of the 15 Faceted Desk Clocks that are described in the following three YouTube Videos. In Part 1 of this video series we describe how the facets were cut on the band saw to produce the faceted desk clock blocks. In Part 2 we describe how we sanded the facets and then finished the Faceted Desk Clocks. Part 3 is a collection of all 15 of the desk clocks showing a picture of the desk clock, a rotating video of the desk clock and a complete description and specifications of the desk clock.

The following chard lists the specifications that were use to produce the following Faceted Wood Desk Clocks.
FDC101 - Mahogany Desk Clock
This first faceted desk clock was made from a solid piece of mahogany. We used the 12 facet pattern disc to create 6 facets per layer on the top 4 facet layers and 12 facets on the bottom 2 layers next to the clock face. These 12 facets on the bottom of the clock base next to the clock mechanism produces a more rounded shape than would have occurred if this layer only contained 6 facet layers. There were 6 facet layers in this desk clock, starting with a 20 degree cut for the first or top layer and then 30 degree, 50 degree, 70 degree, 90 degree and 110 degree facet cuts for the subsequent layers. Overall this clock measures 4.5” in diameter by 3.25” long. We used the Klockkit # 13281 clock mechanism which was inserted into the cavity in the faceted wood block.

This second faceted desk clock was also made from a solid piece of mahogany. We used the 12 facet pattern disc to create 6 facets per layer on the top 5 facet layers and 12 facets on the bottom 2 layers next to the clock face. These 12 facets on the bottom of the clock base next to the clock mechanism produces a more rounded shape than would have occurred if this layer only contained 6 facet layers. There are 7 facet layers in this desk clock, starting with a 0 degree or flat cut for the first or top layer. For the 20 degree, 40 degree, 60 degree, and 80 degree layers we cut 6 facets per layer. For the 90 degree and 110 degree facet layers we cut 12 facets in each of these layers. Overall this clock measures 4.5” in diameter by 4” long. We used the Klockkit # 15316 clock mechanism which was inserted into the cavity in the faceted wood block. The faceted wood block for this desk clock rests on one of the 80 degree facets to provide for a 10 degree angle for the clock face for easy viewing of the clock face.

FDC104 - Walnut Desk Clock
This faceted desk clock was made from two pieces of Walnut with a thin Maple wood spacer between the two Walnut blocks. This maple insert not only hides the glue joint but it provides a nice contrasting accent line to the project. As was done in the previous faceted disk clocks we used the 12 facet pattern disc to create 6 facets per layer on the top 4 facet layers and 12 facets on the bottom 2 layers next to the clock face. There is a total of 6 facet layers in this desk clock, starting with a 0 degree or flat cut for the first or top layer. FDC106 - Maple Desk Clock
I received the wood block for this clock from an attendee at one the woodturning trade shows we attended. I believe the wood is a spalted maple wood but it was quite hard. It may be treated. The wood has unique pattern problably due to the spalting. We used the 12 facet pattern disc to create 6 facets per layer on the top 4 facet layers and 12 facets on the single bottom layer next to the clock face. There were 5 facet layers in this desk clock, starting with a 20 degree cut for the first or top layer. For the 20 degree, 40 degree, 60 degree and 80 degree layers we cut 6 facets per layer. For the 100 degree facet layers we cut 12 facets in this layer. Overall this clock measures 3.75” in diameter by 3.25” long. We used the Klockkit # 15381 clock mechanism which was inserted into the cavity in the faceted wood block. For the 20 degree, 40 degree, 60 degree, 80 degree, 100 degree and 120 degree layers we cut 8 facets per layer. This resulted in an eight sided shape for the face of the clock. Overall this clock measures 4.75” in diameter by 4.0” long. We used the Klockkit # 15014 clock mechanism which was inserted into the cavity in the faceted wood block. The faceted wood block for this desk clock rests on one of the 70 degree facets to provide for a 20 degree angle for the clock face for easy viewing of the clock face.
FDC114 - Cedar Desk Clock
This faceted desk clock was made from two blocks of aromatic cedar wood. Separating the two cedar blocks are 7 thin laminate layers. The laminate layers consist of Maple, Purple Heart, Maple with Wenge in the center. Once again these laminate layers separating the two cherry blocks create a unique design for this desk clock. FDC115 - Cherry Desk Clock
This final faceted wood desk clock is made from two cherry wood blocks. Separating the two cherry blocks are 3 thin laminate layers. The laminate layers consist of Maple and Wenge. Once again these laminate layers separating the two cherry blocks create a unique accent layer for this desk clock. Once again we used the 12 facet pattern disc to create 6 facets per layer on the top 4 facet layers and 12 facets on the bottom 2 layers next to the clock face. There were 6 facet layers in this desk clock, starting with a 20 degree cut for the first or top layer. For the 20 degree, 30 degree, 50 degree, and 70 degree layers we cut 6 facets per layer. For the 90 degree and 110 degree facet layers we cut 12 facets in each of these layers. Overall this clock measures 4.75” in diameter by 3.5” long. We used the Klockkit # 15014 clock mechanism which was inserted into the cavity in the faceted wood block.
