This Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System will also fit the Felder Model FB510 band saws but will not fit the FB610 and larger Felder systems. In this video I will be doing some additional testing using the WoodSlicer band saw blades to determine the accuracy of the system when slicing both long and short boards. |
Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System
The Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System is an upgrade from our standard Accu-Slice System designed for the professional Luthier, woodworker or commercial business customer.
The Heavy Duty Accu-Slice system extents and capabilities of our standard Accu-Slice System. The Heavy Duty Accu-Slice system table is larger, heavier, has larger guide bars and linear bearings and is more stable than our standard Accu-Slice system. It also incorporates 4 adjustable legs to minimize or eliminate friction between the index table and the band saw table. This enables the more accurate slicing of longer and heavier boards as compared to our standard Accu-Slice system. This system was developed during the design of the new Automated Accu-Slice System and incorporates many of the features of that system.
NOTE: These units are custom machined and assembled in our shops based on the users' requirements. Normally delivery time is 4 to 6 weeks after you place an order.

1a. Heavy Duty Accu-Slice Index Table - ASHD36
The index table is 36” long and is made from 3/8” thick aluminum. This provides for an index table that is heavier, stronger and sturdier. In comparison the standard Accu-Slice system (model AS266) is 26” long and constructed from ¼” thick aluminum. The Index Table mounts to the band saw table via a miter bar and locks in place with two 1/4" x 20 tpi screws. Holes must be drilled and tapped into the band saw table to attach the miter bar on the Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System. The Index Table also includes two 150 pound capacity MagJig Clamps and the calibrated Indexing System which provide for greater stability and smoother cuts on the bandsaw. Also included with the system are 4 adjustable legs. These legs are attached to the four corners of the index table to enable the index table to ride smoothly across the band saw table with minimal friction or hinderance of movement. |
Dial-In Rotary Indexer

The Indexing System consists of a revolving index wheel with major graduations at five thousandths increments (0.005”) and minor graduations at 0.001” increments. Each full revolution of the indexing wheel advances the wood to be cut fifty thousandths of an inch (0.050”) which is the normal kerf size of many band saw blades, such as the Timber Wolf ½” blades used in our demos. The accuracy and repeatability of the index system is better than +-0.002”. Wood can be sliced down to 0.010” thick with the Accu-Slice as shown in the videos.

We normally recommend either a 72" or a 60" long Rail for use with the Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System. Additional Rails from 36" long up to 72" long are available for the Accu-Slice and listed on the Rail page on our web site. They are easily and quickly installed on the indexing table via 3 mounting screws.
Either the 60" rail or the 72" rail are recommended for use with the Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System. If the 72" rail or additional extension rails are used, then the optional Rail Supports should be used.
If you require a longer rail for slicing boards over 48" long you can use the Accu-Slice extension rails which are described on the Rail page on our web site. Extension rails of either 22" long or 36" long are available.

3. Accu-Sled II 30" Carriage - AS640
The Accu-Sled II 30" carriage was originally designed for the Luthier and is normally recommended for use with the Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System. This is our latest carriage for the Accu-Slice system. Boards up to 48" long can be sliced with this carriage using a 48" long sacrificial fence. One of the applications that we have used the Accu-Sled II for in our shop is slicing the 32" long by 5" wide boards for making guitar backs and sides. A recent video demonstrates this application of this carriage using the Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System. |

The Accu-Sled II Carriage is 30" long by 4" wide. The Accu-Sled II is a flat plate carriage with 5 roller bearings on its base that ride the Accu-Slice rail. The flat plate top contains 7 T-Slots and thirty ¼” x 20 tpi tapped holes for the attachment of clamps, screws, and custom mounting accessories. Optional brackets of various sizes are available that can be mounted to the plate for various applications or you can make your own brackets or adaptors for custom applications. We recommend the 4" x 6" L-Brackets for slicing boards from 6" to 12" wide. Other L-Brackets are available for slicing other size boards. This unit can be used to enable the user to perform other applications of cutting wood on the band saw using the capabilities of the Accu-Slice Index table and rail. On the bottom of the carriage assembly are attached 3 or 4 roller bearings. The roller bearings consist of an inner ball bearing with a polycarbonate plastic outer wheel. These roller bearings slide on the rail to provide for a smooth even cut of your wood pieces. One of the roller bearings is adjustable to enable you to adjust the tightness of the carriage travel on the rail due to operator preference or due to system wear. For each L-Bracket a Brass Key set is required to attach the L-Bracket to the Accu-Sled II carriage.
Brushes for the Accu-Sled II Carriage - ASB1

Also available is a set of two brushes that are mounted to the ends of the Accu-Sled II carriage to remove saw dust form the top exposed surface of the index table. These brushed help prevent sawdust from contaminating the roller bearings of the index table. The set is comprised of two brushed, one for each end of the carriage. The development and application of these brushes is shown in the video on the design and development of the Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System.

4. Rail Support for the Accu-Slice Rail - ASRS6
If you are using an Accu-Slice rail over 60" long or using the extension rail kits described above, then you will need to support the ends of the rail with the Rail Support for the Accu-Slice Rail. The purpose of this rail support plate is to keep the rail from sagging with the weight of the boards being sliced and to keep the rail perfectly straight and parallel to the band saw table. This plate consists of a 6" x 6" square Delrin plate with a 150 pound MagJig 150 Clamp. Also included are screw and nuts to attach the plate to the bottom of the rail. You will also need a table or stand to support the ends of the rails using these Rail Supports. We recommend using the Grinder/Buffer stands from Amazon as shown in our demo videos. 5. 3" Angle Iron Band Saw Table Extensions - AST4
The 3" Angle Iron Band Saw Table extensions are mounted to the front lip of the band saw table to extend the front width of the band saw table to enable the MagJig Clamps to clamp to the band saw table when slicing thicker boards. Two holes must be drilled and tapped into the front lip of the band saw table as described in the description video of the Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System. These Angle Iron extensions are made from 3" x 2" x 3/16" thick angle iron and measure 4" long. Two of these Angle Iron Extension brackets are required, one for each of the two MagJig clamps on the index table. |

* The distance between the front edge of the miter bar slot on the band saw and the band saw blade must not exceed 5”. The current model will not fit band saws such as the Rikon band saw on which this distance is 6”. A larger Heavy Duty Accu-Slice Index table may be available in the future which would fit this model of band saw
