Accu-Sled R 18" Rotating Carriage - Part Number AS650
The Accu-Sled R Rotating Carriage was originally designed for slicing Staves on the band saw for segmented wood turning. It can be used to slice boards along the length of the board at an angle from 90 degrees to 45 degrees
The front plate on the rotating carriage tilts from 90 degrees to 45 degrees and is locked in place with two thumb screws which slide in two slotted brackets. Boards up to 24" long can be sliced with this carriage. However, all boards being sliced should be backed up with a 3/4" thick MDF board. The Rotating Carriage is constructed from two 3/8" thick by 4" wide by 18" long aluminum plates to provide for a heavy and sturdy Accu-Slice carriage. Two friction hinges connect the bottom plate to the front plate to provide for smooth and precise rotation of the front plate with no lateral movement or slop in the hinges. The front plate is locked in place via two slotted brackets and two thumb screws. Five roller bearings on the base permit the smooth travel on the Accu-Slice rail. We recommend the use of a 4 foot or longer rail but this unit will work with the 36" long rail. The sacrificial fence is not included with the Rotating Carriage. We recommend that the user construct a sacrificial fence to meet the needs of their project out of 3/4" thick MDF. We recommend that the tapered screw Off-set cams (part number AS902) along with the brass screw inserts be used to attach the boards being sliced to the sacrificial fence. |

AS902 - Tapered Screw Off-Set Cams
The Tapered Screw Off-Set cams were developed to enable the accurate attachment of boards to the sacrificial fence. They are available as a set of two off-set cam clamps, one left and one right turning with two 1/4" mounting screws. The center hole is countersunk to accept a 1/4" round head bolt which is included with each offset cam. The bottom edge of the off-set cam is tapered by 5 degrees. The top edge is tapered in a screw type direction from a top distance of 0" at one side on the top surface and down 0.150" on the other edge of the top surface of the off-set cam. This provides for a screw type action against the board being clamped to the sacrificial fence to force the board against the sacrificial fence and assure accurate slicing of boards. Using these tapered screw off-set cam clamps, we have been able to attach boards to the sacrificial fences with no gap between the boards and the sacrificial fence. We recommend using the brass screw inserts for use with the offset cam clamps. It is recommended that an MDF board, 3/4" thick be used to construct the sacrificial fence. The picture down below demonstrates the tapered Screw Off-Set Cam clamping the walnut board tightly against the sacrificial fence. |
