Lathe Rotating Tailstock Chuck Adaptor with a 1.25" x 8 tpi threads and with a #2 Morse taper mount
NEW - Accu-Slice just produced these new Lathe Rotating Tailstock Chuck Adaptor with a 1.25" x 8 tpi threads and with a #2 Morse taper mount for use on woodturning lathes.
Features
Accu-Slice has been using a similar rotating tailstock for many years for various woodworking projects. We had purchased our original rotating tailstock with a 1.25" x 8 tpi thread about 8 to 10 years ago. We have received several requests for viewers of our various YouTube videos asking where this rotating tailstock could be purchased. However, when we searched the Web, we discovered that the rotating tailstock with a 1.25" x 8 tpi thread is no longer available from any source. The rotating tailstock with a 1" x 8 tpi is available on Amazon and from several other sources, but the 1.25" x 8 tpi thread size is not available. Therefore, we have produced our own version of this rotating tailstock with a 1.25" x 8 tpi thread in our machine shop and are now making it available.
We currently have two models of the Rotating Tailstock - one with an Aluminum threaded Head and a second model machined with a stainless steel threaded head.
A video describing the production of this rotating tailstock will be available shortly. It was produced using a premanufactured rotating # 2 Morse taper mount with a rotating end and then custom machining an aluminum adaptor with the 1.25" x 8 tpi thread to attach to the #2 Morse taper rotating mount.
We have used this rotating tailstock in our shop for many years for various woodturning projects. In several of our videos we used it for the accurate aligning aligning and gluing up segmented layers on our lathe to produce segmented woodturning projects. We have also used in in several of our videos when transferring the chuck holding the pieces to be turned onto this rotating tailstock and then aligning the partially turned pieces to the lathe headstock. A typical application of this technique was in the production of segmented eggs and using a vacuum chuck as shown in a recent video. The videos below demonstrate some of the applications of this rotating tailstock.
