Accu-Slice - Index Tables
The Accu-Slice Table is the heart of the Accu-Slice System. There is one model of the Index table to fit various size band saws. The Index Table consists of the flat table with two MagJig 95 clamps to clamp the index table to the bandsaw table, an indexing wheel to dial in your wood thickness to be cut, a miter bar with locking nuts to lock the assembly onto the band saw table, and a set of 4 linear bearings to permit the smooth movement and alignment of the system. |
The Indexing System consists of a revolving index wheel with major graduations at five thousandths increments (0.005”) and minor graduations at 0.001” increments. Each full revolution of the indexing wheel advances the wood to be cut fifty thousandths of an inch (0.050”) which is the normal kerf size of many band saw blades, such as the Timber Wolf ½” blades used in our demos. The accuracy and repeatability of the index system is better than +-0.002”. Wood can be sliced down to 0.010” thick with the Accu-Slice as shown in our demos on our website.
|
The two guide bars on the Accu-Slice should be positioned on the outside edges of the table. If the band saw fence is in place, the left guide bar should be positioned between the left edge of the table and the band saw fence and fence hardware. The band saw fence may interfere with the installation of the Accu-Slice which will require the removal of the band saw fence. In most instances, the bandsaw fence must be removed from the bandsaw.
Two MagJig 95 clamps are now included with each Accu-Slice index table. Holes for mounting these clamps have already been machined into the Accu-Slice table. The purpose of the MagJig clamps is to further reduce vibration of the band saw to provide for even smoother band saw cuts with the Accu-Slice.

Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System
We recently added a new Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System to our inventory. The Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System is an upgrade from our standard Accu-Slice System designed for the professional Luthier, woodworker or commercial business customer.
For Additional details please visit the Heavy Duty Accu-Slice System Web Page.
The Heavy Duty Accu-Slice system extents and capabilities of our standard Accu-Slice System. The Heavy Duty Accu-Slice system table is larger, heavier, has larger guide bars and linear bearings and is more stable than our standard Accu-Slice system. It also incorporates 4 adjustable legs to minimize or eliminate friction between the index table and the band saw table. This enables the more accurate slicing of longer and heavier boards as compared to our standard Accu-Slice system. This system was developed during the design of the new Automated Accu-Slice System and incorporates many of the features of that system.
NOTE: These units are custom machined and assembled in our shops based on the users' requirements. Normally delivery time is 4 to 6 weeks after you place an order.

NEW - Index Table for Hammer N3800, N4400 & Felder FB510 Band Saws
We have just released the final version of the Accu-Slice Index table which will fit the 15mm wide by 6.3 mm deep miter bar slots on the Hammer model N3800 and N4400 Band Saws. This model also fits the Felder Model FB510 Band Saw. We have had many requests over the years for a model of the Accu-Slice system to fit these band saws. However, in the past the Accu-Slice only fit band saws with a 0.75" wide miter bar slot. This new model index table for the Hammer band saws incorporates a steel miter bar which is 15 mm wide by 6.3 mm deep which can be screwed into the miter bar slot on the Hammer band saws. The development of this system was described in a recent YouTube Video. This Accu-Slice System does not fit the Felder Models FB610 and larger band saws. |
Model AS266H Index Table mounted on the N4400 Band Saw
|
This index table was designed using our larger model AS266 Index table. As described in the video we machined new guide bar blocks to fit the 15 mm miter bar onto the guide rails on the Accu-Slice Index Table. Also as described in this video, this requires the operator to drill and tap two holes in the miter bar slot on the band saw in order to attach the Accu-slice Index table to the band saw. Included with each system is a set of tools to enable the drilling and tapping of the holes in the miter bar slot. This installation kit includes:
- Center Punch - to mark the location of the holes to be drilled
- # 25 Drill Bit to drill the correct dimension hole for tapping
- #10-24 Tap for threading the drilled hole (tap handle not included)
- 3 mounting screws to attach the miter bar to the miter bar slot.
Additional MagJig Clamps
NOTE: Two MagJig Clamps are included with the Accu-Slice Index Table. You do not need to order these MagJig Clamps unless you need a replacement or you wish to add a second set for increased ridigity.
In a recent video we described the advantages of adding a second set of MagJig Clamps to you Accu-Slice system. This is not normally required, but by adding two additional MagJig clamps you will increase the rigidity of the index table which may help reduce vibration of the index table resulting in smoother cuts. You would need to order two units, one for each side.

In several of our recent videos we described the addition of some Iron L-Bracket Table Extensions for the band saw tables. These extensions serve two purposes. First of all, they better support the Accu-Slice index table to prevent it from tilting and possible falling off the band saw table. Secondly, since they are iron and magnetic they act as additional table surface for the MagJig clamps to operate - this can be useful when slicing wider boards. These brackets were described in the video on the design of the Accu-Wedge direct mounting plate and also in the video on the design of the Hammer Accu-Slice system.
You if you have some metal working equipment, you can easily make these yourself. The iron L-bracket material can be purchased from McMaster Carr. Iron L-bracket material should be used in order that the MagJig clamps will operate. If you use aluminum, the brackets will support the index table but they will not work with the MagJig clamps.
We offer this item also - Part Number AS287. Our L-Brackets are constructed form 3" wide x 2" tall x 1/4" thick x 6" long angle iron. We cut the material to 6" long pieces, clean up the cut edges, and mill the top surface smooth to produce an accurate 90 degree bracket. We then drill 4 holes in the 2" side of the bracket for the mounting of these brackets to your band saw. You would need to order two of these units, one for each side of the band saw table. You will need to drill and tap holes (1/4" x 20 tpi) in the front edge of your band saw table in order to attach these brackets to the band saw table. You will normally need to order two of these L-Brackets for your Accu-Slice Index Table.

Accu-Slice - Index Tables
From the chart below select the model of Accu-Slice which will fit your bandsaw. Due to the variation in the distance between the band saw blade and the miter slot and the width of the bandsaw table, different models of the Accu-Slice Index Table are required and are manufactured to fit that particular model of bandsaw. If your model of band saw is not listed, call for additional information on the availability of an Accu-Slice system to fit your make and model of band saw.

Band Saw System Requirements
The following are the requirements for the Accu-Slice System to fit your band saw. Our standard model of the Accu-Slice System utilizes a miter bar that is 3/4" wide by 3/8" deep. Therefore your band saw must meet all the below requirements for the standard model of the Accu-Slice system to operate.
(1) The band saw table must be made from cast iron - this will enable the MagJig clamps to attach to the table.
(2) The Miter bar slot on the band saw table must be 3/4" wide by 3/8" deep in order for the Accu-Slice miter bar to fit into this slot and clamp in place.
(3) The distance between the band saw blade and the front edge of the miter bar slot must be less than 5.5"
We have recently developed a model of the Accu-slice index table to fit the hammer and Felder band saws with a metric miter bar slot which is 15 mm wide by 3 mm deep. This is described on the previous section. The miter bar must be physically screwed into the miter bar slot on the band saw table.
