Accu-Slice L-Bracket Carriages

Accu-Slice - L-Bracket Carriages
The Accu-Slice carriages all have 3 to 5 roller bearings on the base of the carriage. These bearings ride in the side grooves on the Accu-Slice rails to provide for a smooth vibration free movement of the carriage along the rail. The outer roller bearings are adjustable to allow for wear or to provide for a more rigid movement of the carriage.

L-Bracket Carriages The L-Bracket carriages are constructed from 4" x 4" x 0.25" thick extruded aluminum. They are designed to slice thin strips or slices off small and irregular shaped wood.
On the bottom of the carriage assembly are attached 3 or more roller bearings. The roller bearings consist of an inner ball bearing with a polycarbonate plastic outer wheel. These roller bearings slide on the rail to provide for a smooth even cut of your wood pieces. One or more of the roller bearings are adjustable to enable you to adjust the tightness of the carriage travel on the rail due to operator preference or due to system wear. 12" Long Carriage - The standard carriage assembly consists of a 90 degree angle bracket, 12” long x 4” high. Normally a 6” x 12” sacrificial fence made of wood, MDF or plastic is attached to the carriage L-bracket with ½” wood screws. This fence is screwed to the aluminum L bracket and acts as a support to which the wood to be cut is attached. Its purpose is to prevent the operator from inadvertently cutting into the aluminum L bracket. The wood to be cut is attached to this sacrificial fence using either double sided tape or hot melt glue. Our preference has been to use the double sided tape. |

24" Long Carriage - For cutting longer pieces of wood (greater than 24” in length) it is recommended that the 24” carriage or multiple carriages be mounted onto the rail and joined together with a longer sacrificial fence. This will provide for smoother cuts of these longer boards. The boards to be cut should not extend past the end of the sacrificial fence in order to achieve the best cuts. It is also possible to use two carriages and to straddle the two carriages with a long sacrificial fence for cutting longer boards.
Custom Carriage with Off Set Cam Clamps - This is a custom clamping carriage that can easily be made to fit your standard Accu-Slice carriages. It was made using the Accu-Slice Off Set Cam Clamps, brass sliding keys and T-channel. This clamping fence enables the clamping of a board for cutting on the Accu-Slice without the need to glue the board to the sacrificial fence or using double sided tape. It is described in our YouTube video on the Offset Cam Clamps.

Accu-Sled II Cariages - NEW
The Accu-Sled II is an accessory carriage for the Accu-Slice System for custom applications. Two lengths of this carriage are currently available - A 30" long by 4" wide carriage (AS640) for slicing boards up to 42" long - An 18" long x 4" wide carriage for slicing boads up to 24" long. The Accu-Sled II is a flat plate carriage with 5 roller bearings on its base that ride the Accu-Slice rail. The flat plate top contains a number of T-Slots and ¼” x 20 tpi tapped holes for the attachment of clamps, screws, and custom mounting accessories. Optional brackets of various sizes are available that can be mounted to the plate for various applications or you can make your own brackets or adaptors for custom applications. This unit can be used to enable the user to perform other applications of cutting wood on the band saw using the capabilities of the Accu-Slice Index table and rail. I prefer these two carriages over our previous carriages because they are more versatile for slicing a variety of board shapes and sizes. Accu-Wedge Segmenting Carriages - The Accu-Wedge carriages are designed to enable the cutting of the small wood segments used in segmented wood turning on the band saw. The advantage of cutting the segments on the band saw is that less wood is wasted and it is much safer than using a table saw.
