Each of these Micro Dizzy Eggs is 2.25" tall and contains about 5,000 wood surface exposures.More than 12 different varieties of wood were used in the production of these wood eggs as described in the video. All the woods are natural colors - no dues or colors are used in any of my productions.
The Glue-Up Jigs and the Dizzy Glue-Jigs were used to accurately align and glue the laminated layers to produce these Dizzy Pattern Bells. These are just some of the videos describing these systems. Additional videos are listed on the Accu-Slice Syste Video Index Page.

Production of the Micro Dizzy Eggs
The video below describes the production of these 4 Micro Dizzy Wood layered eggs. The process begins with the slicing of natural colored woods of various species sliced to between 0.007" and 0.060" thick. Thirteen different varieties of woods were used in this project. No dyes or colors were used for any of the woods. Then 69 layers of wood are glued together to produce a 2" thick laminated board. From this board, round discs are cut when are then sliced into 0.050" thick discs. Around 50 of these discs are then glued back together, rotating each disc about 2 degrees to produce the dizzy pattern blank. This is then turned on the lathe to produce the micro dizzy egg. Each egg is 2.25" tall (not including the base) by 1.75" diameter and contains about 5,000 wood surface exposures. The base is made of solid cherry wood and is permanently attached to the egg. The Micro Dizzy Eggs were finished with several coats of Bush Oil and then 5 coats of polyurethane finish. |
