Trapezoid Shaped Segments Made with the Accu-Slice System
The Trapezoid Shaped Segments can be created by tilting the band saw table when using the Accu-Wedge system in conjunction with the Accu-Slice System. We first developed this technique based on a request from Curt Theobald at the AAW trade show back in 2017.
Videos Demonstrating the Trapezoid Shaped Wedges
The following is a collection of YouTube videos that we have created over the years using the Accu-Wedge and Accu-Slice systems to produce a variety of Trapezoid shaped segments and incorporate these segmented discs into some unique projects. Some additional videos utilizing these Trapezoid Shaped Wedges are planned and will be added to this collection in the near future.

This the original video in which we first demonstrated the production of trapezoid shaped wedges for incorporation in segmented rings in wood turning projects. These wedges are produced on the band saw utilizing the Accu-Wedge system by tilting the band saw table 10 degrees. This video details the process of producing these wedges and segmented rings. Finally we demonstrate the slicing of the segmented wedges to produce unique pattern feature rings for you woodturning projects

In this first video of the trapezoid segment series, I cut a variety of trapezoid segmented wedges at angles from 100 degrees to 120 degrees and with 16 to 48 segments per layer to evaluate the trapezoid patterns of the segmented discs generated by these various cutting parameters. For this study all of the assembled and glued trapezoid segmented discs are between 4” and 4.5” in diameter and I attempted to obtain the maximum number of segments per layer possible at the selected cutting angle.

This video is part 2 of a video series on trapezoid shaped wedges for segmented wood turning. In this video we demonstrate slicing the trapezoid wedges on the band saw, cutting thin spacers of a contrasting colored wood, gluing these spacers between the trapezoid wedges and then adding thin segmented top and bottom rings to the segmented discs.

In this video we describe the design and production of a four layer segmented bowl with Trapezoid shaped segments. We begin by describing the slicing of the trapezoid wedges on the band saw, cutting the wedges by tilting the band saw table to 105 degrees (15 degrees off of 90), and then using the Accu-Wedge system to produce 24 segment rings. We also produced some standard straight sided segmented wedges for the accent rings. We describe a glue up jig for the gluing of the segmented wedges to produce accurate segmented rings with perfect joints.

This video describes the production of this unique South West Pattern Woodturning. Trapezoid shaped wedges of Yellow Heart wood were cut on the band saw using the Accu-Wedge system on the band saw by tilting the band saw table to 110 degrees. These were then glued into a segmented disc with thin padauk spacers between each of the wedges. The trapezoid shaped segmented disc was subsequently sliced again on the band saw to produce 0.120" thin segmented discs. The order of these disc was reversed to create this unique pattern.
