Production of the Segmented Dizzy Platter
In this video we combine the techniques for producing a Dizzy pattern bowl with segmenting to produce a Segmented Dizzy Platter. A Laminated board with 65 layers of contrasting woods is sliced into 6 segments. The 6 segments are glued together with a 0.100" thick Padauk spacer between each wedge to produce the segmented dizzy pattern for the base of the platter. A 4 layer segmented rim made from Olive Wood with 48 segments per layer is then added to the outer rim of the platter. The Segmented Dizzy Platter is 10.5 " in diameter. The Segmented Dizzy Platter was finished with several coats of Bush Oil and then 5 coats of polyurethane finish.
