The Accu-Facet system is an accessory which mounts on the Accu-Sled and Accu-Slice systems on the band saw for slicing multi-sided shapes and facets on wood blocks. System includes L-Bracket Support Plate, 2 Pattern Discs, 2 Safety Shields, Ramp with two magnets, handle, Screws and Thumb Nuts required for installation. does not include the Accu-Sled or the Accu-Slice System.
Accu-Facet System
The Accu-Facet System was developed to enable the slicing of multiple faces on blocks of wood on the band saw to produce multi-sided cylinders and also multi-faceted wood blocks. The resulting faceted blocks can be used to create some unique projects such as faceted wood desk clocks, lids for urns or vases and bases for other projects.
The following introductory videos describe the Accu-Facet System. Additional videos describing the original design of the Accu-Facet system and projects completed with the Accu-Facet system are listed in the "Videos" tab below. Also listed in the "Project Pictures" tab are some of the projects completed with the Accu-Facet System.

Accu-Facet System
This Accu-Facet System was designed to enable the cutting of various angles and facets on wood blocks on the band saw. The Accu-Facet attaches to the Accu-Sled on the Accu-Slice index table to enable the cutting of facets on wood blocks to make some unique faceted shapes that can be used as lids for bowls, lids for vases or urns, bases for other projects or it can be used to develop other unique projects such as multi-faceted desk clocks or multi-faceted spheres as shown in the Project Pictures Tab. . The Accu-Facet system was originally designed to slice multi-sided cylinders as demonstrated in our first video. The design was improved to make this system more versatile, easier to use, accurate and also safer to operate as demonstrated in the main video in the Video Tab. The Accu-Facet system requires both the Accu-Slice index table and rail as well as the Accu-Sled. The Accu-Slice system and the Accu-Sled are not included with the Accu-Facet system and must be purchased separately. In addition you might want to purchase a Grizzly Disc sander (part number G0702) from Grizzly Industrial Tools and the Miter Bar with Mounting Plate listed above from Accu-Slice. The Grizzly disc sander with the Accu-Slice Miter Bar with Mounting Plate enable easy and accurate sanding of the facets using the Accu-Facet system. See the video of how this works. The Accu-Facet System consists of two main components - the L-Bracket Support Plate and the Pattern Discs. In addition each Accu-Facet System is shipped with two safety shields, a handle for the Accu-Sled, a ramp and the various screws and thumb nuts needed to use the system. The Grizzly Miter Bar with Mounting Plate can be purchased separately. The main component of the Accu-Facet System is the L-Bracket Support Plate. This plate is constructed for 3/8' thick aluminum L channel - 4" x 4". On the base of this support plate are a series of angle indexing positions at 10 degree increments from 0 to 90 degrees. These positions will determine the angle of the cut to be made on the band saw. On the upright part of the support plate are three pivot position holes and three auto-indexing pins. These three positions enable the slicing of various sizes of wood from 2 inches in diameter up to 6 inches in diameter. The auto-indexing pins align with the holes in the pattern discs and snap into place when the correct faceting position is set. Also included with the L-Bracket support plate are 2 brass thumb screws that attach the plate to the Accu-Sled and a large black thumb nut to attach the pattern discs. The second part of the system are the Delrin Pattern Discs. Included with the Accu-Facet system are two of these pattern discs - a 10 position disc and a 12 position disc. In the center of each disc is a 5/16" diameter shoulder bolt which mounts the pattern disc onto the L-Bracket Support plate and is held in place with the large black thumb nut. On one side of the pattern disc is a series of precision machined holes which correspond to the number of facets or sides that can be sliced with the pattern disc. The auto-indexing pin engage and align with these holes to set the facet angle. The wood to be faceted or sliced is attached to the pattern disc using either double sided tape or #6 flat head wood screws. Machined into the pattern discs are 4 holes for the use of flat head screws to attach the wood blocks. When operating the Accu-Facet, the blade guides are set quite high on the band saw to enable the slicing of larger wood blocks. As a result a large section of the band saw blade is exposed to the operator. In order to safely operate the band saw with the Accu-Facet we have designed two safety shields. The first shield is mounted onto the Accu-Sled which is on the right side of the band saw blade and the second safety shield is attached to the band saw table on the left side of the band saw blade with a MagJig clamp. After a cut has been made on the band saw, the Accu-Sled is pulled back to a position in front of the band saw blade and this enables the safety shields to protect the operator. Both safety shields are included with the Accu-Facet System and must be used when operating the system on the band saw. Also included with the Accu-Facet are a ramp with two magnets. This ramp is used to divert off the sliced pieces of wood from the band saw blade. This is the same ramp used with our Accu-Wedge but we have added a second magnet due to the heavier pieces of wood being sliced. The final part of the Accu-Facet system is a handle which is attached to one of the 1/4" x 20 tpi hole position on the Accu-Sled. This handle provides for a convenient support to enable the pushing of the Sled through the band saw blade. The facets cut on the band saw will have some saw marks from the band saw blade. These can be sanded by hand but are most easily sanded using the Grizzly Disc sander which you can purchase from Grizzly Industrial. Accu-Slice has designed and can supply the Miter Bar with Mounting Plate for this Grizzly Disc sander. The Accu-Facet L-Bracket Suport plate is attached to this mounting plate using the same brass thumb screws used on the band saw. By setting the same angle as was cut on the band saw, these facets are easily sanded to obtain perfect smooth facet surfaces. We also recommend adding a dust collection to better capture the dust generated on the band saw table top. Installation and Operation. Please watch the videos to see how to install and operate the Accu-Facet System. We do not sell the components of the Accu-Facet separately since we feel that it is imperative that the safety shields be used with the system. However additional Pattern discs are available and custom patterns of the pattern discs are available on special request. The Accu-Facet System was designed, build and produced by John Manura at Accu-Slice. Limited quantities available. Safety Shield The safety shield contains a MagJig clamp and a 6" x 12" plastic shield that mounts on to the bandsaw table just in front of the band saw blade. The purpose of this shield is to act as a safety barrier to keep your hands behind the band saw blade. This safety shield was originally designed for use with the Accu-Facet system. It is included in the Accu-Facet kit, but it is now available as a separate item for use as a general safety shield for the band saw. |

Part 2 - Multiple Rings |
Below are a series of projects completed with the Accu-Facet System. In the next few weeks we plan on producing a video on making the Faceted Clocks and a second video on making the Faceted Sphere. Other projects shown below include faceted bases for other projects, multi-sided cylinders and segmented blocks that could be used as lids for vases, urns or bowls.

The following projects were made using the Accu-Facet System with the Accu-Slot Celtic Ring System
The Accu-Facet system produced the six sided blocks from which the six sided Celtic Ring patterns were created using the Accu-Slot System.
