A Laminated board with 65 layers of contrasting woods is sliced into 6 segments. The 6 segments are glued together with a 0.100" thick Padauk spacer between each wedge to produce the segmented dizzy pattern for the base of the platter. A 4 layer segmented rim with 48 segments per layer is then added to the top of the platter.

Production of the Segmented Dizzy Platter
In this video we combine the techniques for producing a Dizzy pattern bowl with segmenting to produce a Segmented Dizzy Platter. A Laminated board with 65 layers of contrasting woods is sliced into 6 segments. The 6 segments are glued together with a 0.100" thick Padauk spacer between each wedge to produce the segmented dizzy pattern for the base of the platter. A 4 layer segmented rim made from Olive Wood with 48 segments per layer is then added to the outer rim of the platter. The Segmented Dizzy Platter is 10.5 " in diameter. The Segmented Dizzy Platter was finished with several coats of Bush Oil and then 5 coats of polyurethane finish. |
